SANDY WELLS

I grew up in Merlin Oregon, a little town outside of Grants Pass, the southern part of the state. My family was always very close and as down home as it gets. My grandfather owned a Logging company for a long time and my dad drove a log truck and worked in the woods the first couple years of my life. Then in a logging accident my dad was off his feet and had to learn a new trade so he took up wood carving and has done it every since.

We grew up on the Rogue River which meant summers were spent rafting and playing in the river when I wasn’t playing softball. Softball and music were basically my life growing up. I played summer ball and when I was old enough school and summer ball. For as long as can remember I’ve been playing piano and started singing early, too.

My grandparents always lived next door to us. I spent a lot of time at their house. I remember sitting and listening to my grandpa and his work buddies tell their crazy story’s. I think that started my love for people.

I find people extremely interesting and find that if you listen you can learn something from everyone you meet. I’ve been blessed in my life to be surrounded by incredible people. There is nothing better than a beer and laughter with friends and family. My family and friends are most important in my life.

After graduating High School I decided to leave the small town and move to the “Big City” Colorado Springs. Shortly after moving here my step dad and I started singing together and writing music. For the first time in my life I realized I could write and sing music and quite possibly make a living at it.

The outdoors are still a huge part of my life, hiking, biking, fishing, camping and of course, softball. I find peace in the outdoors, amazingly enough I get the same calming feeling in the outdoors as I get when I’m singing. Music is my outlet my medicine.
